Hi! I'm Kate, owner, wedding dress designer and maker at Kate Clare Couture. I specialise in making bespoke bridalwear, evening wear and costume. At my Kate Clare Couture bridal studio I work with brides to create luxury, unique, made to measure wedding dresses, veils and accessories for each of my wonderful brides alongside making my ready to wear collection, also handmade to order in the studio. ​
I have many years of experience making high end, couture pieces of clothing using beautiful fabrics and my aim is that my brides glow whilst wearing a Kate Clare Couture creation!
A free spirit, I first learnt to sew when I was a child making my own creations continuing into my teenage years when I made my own prom dress. I went onto study at Leeds College of Art and then onto a BA(Hons) Fashion at Leeds University, which included work experience at Vogue Magazine. I have worked in both fashion and costume including for the BBC, Opera North, Emmerdale, Sky and the City Varieties.

When getting married back in 2010, unable to a find a bridal gown made from luxurious fabrics that also reflected my own personal style, I designed and created a beautiful silk and tulle gown.
It was a one of a kind, modern and relaxed dress, influenced by vintage styles and unique, which I loved. I was often approached to make friends wedding dresses, creating bespoke bridal wear that reflected them, making them feel and look amazing. Kate Clare Couture was born.

When I am not making wedding dresses and costumes, I adore having outdoor adventures with my husband and beautiful wild children, going to art galleries and collecting art, crafting anything and everything, watching comedies, cooking, going to gigs and the theatre and catching up with friends.

THE STUDIO
Kate Clare Couture is based in Yorkshire on the edge of the renowned Ilkley Moor, in a working bridal studio. Here is where I make all the bridal wear and also welcome brides for private 1 to 1 wedding dress consultations. Clients are welcomed into the stylish and relaxing studio where they can browse the collection or spend time creating their own bespoke design with me. During your bridal consultation you can see where the magic happens! Sustainability is something I'm passionate about so I source most of my fabrics from suppliers in the north of England and make each dress to order. I use leftover pieces to create small items such as bridal eye masks and bows to reduce waste and I also source vintage trimmings for a unique finish!
